Come out to Philadelphia Student Union's regular youth Open Mic. There will be music, refreshments, and a chance to spit on the mic. This month's featured artist is Anwar Johnson from the High School for Creative and Performing Arts.

"The Love Affair is Over" - End the Sweetheart Deals for E.M.O.'s

Students, parents and community members call on the SRC to solve the problems in Corrective Action II schools with reforms that work, such as reviving the Office of Restructured Schools. No more "Sweetheart Deals" for Educational Management Organizations that have earned more that $100 million in contracts since 2002.
"Costing Out Study" Press Conference

The state recently released a "Costing-Out Study" which determines how much money it would actually take to educate every student in Pennsylvania. The study determined that out of Pennsylvania's 501 school districts, 474 are not provided with resources adequate to meet their students' needs. In Philadelphia the state is underfunding by $5,000 a student, or $1 billion overall. On Wednesday, the study will be released in Philadelphia. The students of PSU plan to tell Philadelphia what that underfunding has done to their education.
